FOR PATIENTS

Procedure Preparation

You should have already completed an initial safety screening and have been advised on how to prepare for your exam over the phone. If not, please call our offices to do so in advance of your appointment. Also, we would ask that you remember the following:

Please plan to arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled exam to check-in and provide the front

desk staff enough time to prepare your chart before the exam.

• Please bring your ID and insurance card with you.

• If you have a pacemaker, you cannot have an MRI.

• If you have metal in your body, you must let us know when scheduling.
You may not be able to have the scan.

• If you are claustrophobic and your physician orders sedation, you must be accompanied by someone who will drive you home.

• If you have had stents placed in your body within the last two months, you cannot have an MRI.

• If you have had any type of surgery, you cannot have an MRI until three months after the procedure.

• Please let us know if you have a pacemaker, any metal in your body or if you are claustrophobic.

MRI Procedures with Contrast:

– If you are preparing for a contrast study, it is extremely important to have bloodwork labs completed and submitted to Broadway Imaging staff.

MRI Exam Day:

• Please arrive 30 minutes before your appointment to fill out appropriate paperwork.

• For all MRI scans, you will be required to change into a hospital gown.

• Our changing areas are private and there are secure lockers for your clothes.

• It is best if you leave all jewelry and valuable items at home.

• If you are wearing anything metallic that might interfere with the MRI scan, we will ask you to remove them. This includes:

– Jewelry

– Dentures

– Eyeglasses

– Hearing aids

– Metal on your clothing like zippers

• You should not have your credit cards in your pockets during the scan because the

MRI magnet can affect the magnetic strip on the card.

• If you are having brain or head scan, please do not wear make-up.

CT Scans With Contrast

CT patients may require IV and/or oral contrast. Please contact your physician or Broadway Imaging staff if you

have any questions regarding contrast at least 24 hours prior to your exam.

Patients Requiring IV Contrast:

• You MUST have lab results for BUN and CREATININE completed within 30 days of the appointment.

Please have these results submitted to our facility at least 48 hours prior to your scheduled appointment.

• Please let our staff know if you are diabetic and take Metformin or any generic version of the medication.

• If you are taking Metformin, you must stop the medication 24 hours prior and 48 hours after your appointment before you start taking it again. Talk to your physician to see if they may have you take a substitute medication during that timeframe.

Patients Requiring Oral Contrast:

• If your doctor has requested that you have an Abdominal CT, you may have to prepare by drinking a contrast solution prior to the exam. You will have to drink the bottle of the prep solution after you check-in for your
