What is Ultrasound?
Ultrasound imaging, also called ultrasound scanning or sonography, obtains images from inside the human body through the use of high-frequency sound waves. The reflected sound wave echoes are recorded and displayed as real-time visual images. Radiation is not used in ultrasound imaging.
Ultrasound images are captured in real time, showing the structure and the function of the body’s internal organs, as well as blood flow. Ultrasound is a useful way of examining the body’s internal organs.
Our ultrasound unit performs a wide range of exams including abdominal and obstetrical studies.
Preparing for Your visit:

• For all exams, please wear comfortable clothing.

Abdominal (Gallbladder): 

• No food or drink 6 hours prior to your exam.
• Preferably no food or drink after midnight the day prior to your procedure.

Pelvic:

• Drink four 16 oz. glasses of water one hour prior to your exam.
• Hold bladder full, NO VOIDING.

Following Your Visit:

• Our Radiologists will interpret your images and send a report directly to your doctor.  Your doctor will communicate the results of your exam to you.
